The Society holds 2 annual internal competitions. One for Digital Projected Images (DPI) and one for Printed Images. Such competitions may only be entered by fully paid up members of the Grange Photographic Society.

The Society holds 2 annual competitions. One for Digital Projected Images (DPI) and one for Printed Images. Such competitions may only be entered by fully paid up members of the Society.

The Digital Projected Image Competition is divided into two categories:
  1. Nature

  1. Open

The Printed image Competition is divided into three categories:
  1. Nature

  1. Colour

  1. Mono (Grayscale / Black & White)

Images entered in either of the Nature categories must conform to the L&CPU definition of Nature as follows:
  • “Nature photography covers images of birds, plants, animals, fungi etc. provided that they are not domesticated or cultivated. It also covers subjects such as weather and geology provided they are titled to show their significance in the natural world. Any manipulation of the image is limited to minor re-touching of blemishes, exposure, sharpening etc. and must not alter the content of the original image. Titles must be specific and correct. Latin titles are not essential if the species can be accurately titled in English.”

  • True Nature images may not be used in the Open DPI or Colour and Mono Print categories.

  • The same or similar images may not be entered in more than one category.

Trophies are awarded for the winner of each competition, the best quality print and the Photographer of the Year as follows:
  • Williamson Trophy Photographer of the Year

  • Eric Chambers Trophy Best Digital Projected Image (Open)

  • CM Clark Trophy Best Digital Projected Image (Nature)

  • Brigid Wall Trophy Best Mono Print

  • Easton Trophy Best Colour Print

  • To be decided Best Nature Print

  • Brigid Wall Printer Trophy Best Print Quality
